Months have passed and we are well into spring now. There was a beautiful bloom of flowers here in the desert, a colorful alive sight. All these seeds and plants just waiting there for rain and then… color. We made mother earth and many flower children for our spring season table. For the flower children we used wooden peg dolls which we dressed with pieces of felt, a nice and fun activity with children.
Winter cave
Winter. Snow. White. Cold. Thick clothing. Here where we live it is more like clouds every now and again, maybe rain and cuddling up under a blanket as the house is cold. For the season table I worked an a snow cave for the winter gnome. I felted around a round piece of plastic and once properly felted i cut open a flap. After felting all the sides this is the result:

Autum lady
Autumn has started, the nachlieli bird has been spotted and the chatsav flower is blooming. For the kindergarten and for at home I made an autumn lady for on the season table, she is surrounded by colorful acorns and a mushroom. The first rain fell and it is getting colder, we love the change in weather!
Flower children
Flower dolls, season children… beautiful hand made dolls from natural materials for on the season table and to play with. My girl loves to make up stories, make homes and landscapes for them. They are sweet.
Mrs Thaw
Mrs Thaw… she cleans away the snow… she cleans away the winter.
She is a character from the story ‘Ollie’s ski trip’ (1907) of the famous writer Elsa Beskow. King winter and Jack Frost are also part of the same story. At the end of winter Mrs Thaw cleans away the snow so the earth becomes ready for spring. Elsa Beskows stories and characters became much-loved favorites among Waldorf teachers and families, they illustrate the seasonal cycles of nature and the rhythm of the year.

Mrs Thaw. Wool and tricot head and hands. Clothing in natural colors with embroidery. Beads on strings of capuchon. Broom. 22cm high.
